Preschool Classroom Activity on Manners:

The preschool classroom activity on Manners will stimulate and develop the children's visual observation and auditory skills, and will learn to be polite towards their family members.

To show respect, and teach them the importance of having manners! The children will develop their social skills, and learn the how valuable it is to have good interpersonal skills.

Materials:

2. Puppets for Demonstration Purposes.

• The preschool children should be reminded of how privileged they are to be members of a family.
• They should form part of a class discussion, where they will reflect upon on all the benefits of having a family.
• The teacher should guide the children in the discussion, and let them name all the things mommy and daddy provides them with everyday!



• They should give examples: "My Mommy packs me lunch, everyday." "My Mommy takes me to the doctor when I'm sick." "My Daddy protects us."
• The teacher should teach them the importance of showing respect towards their parents, and being polite, and using our manners when addressing them is very important, and that behavior makes us better human beings.
• This is our way of showing that we are grateful for all we receive.
• The children should also be reminded to be respectful towards their brothers and sisters as well!
• The teacher should create a situation where brothers and sisters interact in a negative, disrespectful way, and the provide the children with a solution.
• When treating others with respect, you get a different reaction from people, the reaction you want!



• The teacher should let the children watch a puppet show where the puppets are used to demonstrate a situation where two puppets treat one another disrespectfully!
• The teacher should pair up the children, and let them demonstrate how they can provide the solutions for the problems the puppets portrayed, by listening carefully to what the other puppet is saying, and by treating the other puppet with respect!
• The teacher will teach the preschool children the importance of clear, and accurate communication between people, and being polite!
• The children should learn the poem on manners: "Please."

There's a magic little word

That works wonders when it's heard,

Though it sometimes seems to lose itself with ease,

But there's such a charm about it,

That we cannot do without it,

And that magic little word is only "Please."
