Preschool Multicultural Activity: Hispanic Fiestas!

Cinco De Mayo and Dia De Los Muertos.

The preschool multi cultural activity will not only be enjoyed, but the activity on the Hispanic Fiestas will improve thechildren's general knowledge on the Hispanic Fiestas!

The children will improve their auditory -, as well as their visual observation skills.

Materials:

  1. f-is-for-fiesta
  2. Colorful Pictures of the Fiestas.
  3. An example of the Mexican Flag.
  4. Group Project (Painting the Mexican Flag.)
  5. Paint and Paintbrushes. (Red, Green, and White Paint.)
  6. Songs to be Sung on Cinco de Mayo.
  7. traditional-songs-of-singing-cultures

Procedure:
  • Cinco De Mayo Day is celebrated on the fifth day of May. This day commemorates a Mexican victory in battle against the French.
  • The Mexican army was outnumbered and won the battle against all odds.
  • The battle is known as the battle of Puebla, and was lead by Cinco de Mayo.


  • On this day everyone wears the colors: red, green, and white. These are the colors of the Mexican Flag.
  • Another Mexican Holiday: Dia De Los Muertos, is celebrated on the first and second day of November each year.
  • This is the day of the dead. Early Mexican civilization believed the souls of their loved ones return each year to celebrate with them.
  • It's not a sad day but a festive one, a day of remembering and rejoicing.
  • The teacher should show the children pictures on the festivities, and give the children examples of the traditional clothes and of food that was eaten during the festivities.
  • The children can join in the fun activity of creating a Mexican Flag!
  • The children will learn the songs, and enjoy singing it together.
