Effective Preschool Science Activities on Seeds
Preschool Activity on Seeds: The children will learn how seeds disperse during the activity on seeds, thus developing their cognitive skills.
The children will also stimulate their visual observation - and auditory skills.
Materials: - beyond-the-bean-seed
- Fruits and Seeds in the School Garden.
- Tape Measure.

Procedure: - The teacher and the children will observe the seeds, fruits, and flowers of the trees, shrubs and plants in the school garden.
- The teacher should ask the children how do they think the plants and trees disperse their seeds?
- hooked like burs, or do birds eat the seeds and disperse the seeds in that way, or do the seeds gently float in the air, or do the seeds spin and fly in the air and disperse that way?
- The teacher should show them examples of plants, trees, and flowers, and how their seeds disperse.
- Bees disperse the pollen of flowers, birds do eat fruit and disperse their seeds.
- The seeds of the dandelion do float gently in the air, the seeds of the ash do spin and fly through the air, and disperse their seeds that way.
- The teacher should ask the children to observe and think whether the seeds will be dispersed further on a windy day, than on a wind still day?
- The teacher should teach the children why it is important for plants, trees and shrubs to disperse their seeds successfully.
- The teacher and the children should do research on the previous season's seeds and how far they have been dispersed, and why the distance is important.
- The teacher, assisted by the children could measure the distance the seeds have traveled from the mother plant.
