Preschool Safe Kid Observation Activity:

The preschool safety activity will teach the preschool children to be more alert and aware, ensuring their safety in and around their homes.

They will develop and stimulate their visual- and auditory memories during the lesson.

Materials:

  1. Colorful Pictures of the Inside of a House, for demonstration purposes.
  2. Household Cleaners and Detergents, for demonstration purposes.
  3. Objects, for demonstration purposes.

Procedure:

  • The teacher should indicate to the children that they can make a contribution to ensuring their safety at home.
  • The teacher will show colorful pictures of the different rooms inside a house, and discuss what the need for each room in the house is.
  • Household cleaners should be shown for demonstration purposes and the teacher should indicate it could be poisonous. The children should therefore be warned never to drink any liquid from household cleaning containers.
  • The teacher should demonstrate to the children, how electrical cords and plugs should be handled.
  • The teacher should emphasize that electricity and water should not ever come into contact with one another.


  • The teacher should next demonstrate to them, how to use a kettle, and teach them that steam coming from boiling kettles are very hot, and can burn as much as the boiling water. Children should never use a kettle without supervision.
  • The teacher show a picture of a bathroom. The children should be aware of the fact that avbathroom's floor can become slippery when wet.
  • The teacher should also warn the children that water on a tiled surface could be very slippery, and one can get very hurt when falling on a slippery floor.

  • The teacher should indicate the water taps. The teacher should indicate the blue and red dots on the taps. The teacher should emphasize that a blue dot indicates cold water, and the red dot indicates hot water.
  • The children should open the cold water tap first, and add the warm water afterwards, when running their baths.
  • The teacher should emphasize the fact that the children should act responsibly, and help to ensure their safety!
