Materials needed for the Activity:

  1. toy-trains-and-american-dreams
  2. Cardboard Colored or White.
  3. Triangular Shaped Profile Pencils. (Ideal for improving the preschooler's grip.)

  7. Paint and Paintbrushes.(optional)
  8. Black Marker Pen.
  9. Templates.

Procedure:

  • Firstly, the preschool children will use the templates to trace the airplane onto the colored or white cardboard, using their triangular shaped pencils.
  • Next, the children can paint the airplane pieces, and set them aside to dry.

  • The children will then cut out the airplane pieces.
  • They could use a black marker pen to draw extra detail in their plane, for example, a number or name.
  • The children can then attach the pieces of string or wool to the airplane in order to swing and pull it around.

The teacher could read the poem to the children or teach them thepoem, developing their auditory skills. Enjoy!

Poem: The Airman:

rrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

The engine roars,

The propeller spins,

"Close the doors!"

Our flight begins.

zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

The plane rises;

It skims the trees.

Over the houses

We fly at our ease.

mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

ZOOM goes the plane,

The engine hums.

Then home again,

And down it comes.......
