Preschool Theme Sports Activities


Preschool Theme Sports Activities:

The preschool theme sports activities will provide the preschool children with fun activities, developing their gross motor muscles, and teach them simple sport activities at the same.

Activity 1:"Volley Ball."

The children will develop their eye hand co-ordination and gross motor muscles, when participating in the activity.

Materials Needed for the Activity:

  1. One Large Ball.

Procedure:
  • The children should stand in a circle, with their feet touching.
  • One child should stand in the middle of the circle.
  • He or she should try to roll the ball through the feet of any child in the circle.


  • The children may only use their hands in stopping the ball going through.
  • Children should take turns in standing in the middle of the circle./li>

  • Enjoy!


Activity 2: "Call Ball."

The children will develop their gross motor muscles, eye hand co-ordination and their auditory skills when participating in the following activity.

Materials needed for the Activity:

  1. One Big Soft Ball.


Procedure:
  • The children should stand in a circle, and one child should stand in the center.
  • The child in the center will toss the ball above his or her head, while calling the name of a child.
  • The child whose name was called tries to catch the ball.
  • When catching the ball, that child then takes the place of the child previously standing in the circle.
  • Have fun!


Activity 3: "Rowing."

The children will develop their gross motor muscles when participating in the activity.


  • Procedure:
    • The children should form pairs and sit on the floor facing each other, and put their soles of their feet together.


    • The children should hold hands and push and pull each other forward and backward, imitating a rowing movement.
    • Enjoy!


    • Activity 4: "Ring Toss."

      The children will stimulate their eye hand co-ordination when participating in this activity.

      Materials needed for the Activity:

      1. Rubber Rings.
      2. Bottles filled with Sand.


      Procedure:
      • The children should stand five feet away from the bottles, and try to throw the ring over the neck of the bottles.
      • The children can try and increase the distance between themselves and the bottles, in order to improve their ring tossing skills!
      • This simple activity still remains a favorite with the children!
