Effective Preschool Theme Activities President's Day Activity
Preschool President's Day Activity:
This is a lovely variation on the president's day activities! The preschool children will improve their observation skills during the creative president's day activity, observing and participating, in the baking of a "Lincoln" log cake for President's Day!
Lincoln Log Cake:
Ingredients For The Cake:

- 4 eggs.
- Three quarters of a cup of sugar.
- Three quarters of a cup of all-purpose flour.
- Three quarters of a teaspoon of baking powder.
- A quarter teaspoon of salt.
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla essence.
Ingredients For The Frosting.- 1 and a half cups of heavy cream.
- A quarter cup of instant powdered chocolate drink.
- A quarter cup of sifted, unsweetened cocoa.
Method: - Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
- Grease an rectangle shaped oven proof dish or pan, and line it with wax paper. Grease the wax paper, and set it aside.
- Beat the 4 eggs in a mixing bowl, until foamy.
- Gradually add the sugar, and keep on beating, for at least another 5 minutes.
- Sift together the all purpose flour, baking powder, and the salt.
- Add into the egg mixture, and blend at a low speed until well mixed.
- Stir in the vanilla, and pour into the oven dish, or pan.
- Bake for 20 minutes, at 350 degrees, in a pre-heated oven.
- Mix all the ingredients of the frosting together, and place in the refrigerator to cool.
- Lift the cake onto a clean tea towel, sprinkled with confectioners' sugar.
- Peel away the wax paper.
- Roll up the cake, and let it cool for 30 minutes.
- Unroll the cake, and spread with a filling of choice, for example, sifted, sweetened cream cheese, chocolate spread, or vanilla pudding.
- Re-roll the cake, and spread the pre-made frosting over the log cake.
- Add a special finish to the log, by scraping the log with a fork, in order to give it the look of "bark."
- Celebrate, and enjoy the Lincoln log cake on President's Day!
