Preschool Nursery Rhyme Song: "Humpty Dumpty"
This is a practical music activity, on the egg character "Humpty Dumpty." The children identify with nursery rhyme characters and will enjoy the nursery rhyme music activity.
The children will enjoy learning and singing the "Humpty Dumpty" song together. The children will have fun with the practical application of the Humpty Dumpty character, when play acting the character. This activity will improve the childrens' confidence!
Materials needed for the Activity:
- the-great-big-book-of-songs-rhymes-and-cheers
- "Humpty Dumpty" Song.
- "Humpty Dumpty" presented as a short story.
- "Humpty Dumpty" rhyme.
- Eggs for making a "Humpty Dumpty."(Eggs should be boiled or blown out.)
- Paint and Paintbrushes.
- Empty plastic container for an egg to sit upon. (Egg cups will also do.)
Procedure:
- The children will listen to the story of the "Humpty Dumpty Character."
- The children will learn the rhyme, and put the words to music, singing the song together.
- The children will learn that "Humpty Dumpty" was sitting on was a bridge, and the flow of the water, passing under the bridge was to strong and the bridge broke, and the Kings men and the Kings horses couldn't put it together again, refers to the people of the time who couldn't managed to rebuilt the wall.
- The children will enjoy singing the "Humpty Dumpty" song, and should be encouraged to put actions to the words.
- Next, the children will put on their aprons, and prepare to create their own "Humpty Dumpty" characters.
- They should be encouraged to think creatively, and use little containers for the "egg man" to sit upon. The children should decorate, and paint their containers.
- The children should hold an exhibition of their art creations!
