Preschool Music and Movement Activities:
The preschool music and movement activity will provide information on musicical rhythms, how to create their own music instruments, and how to move and dance on different rhythms.Music can bring a new dimension to learning, when the children are listening to music, learning while music is playing, or making music themselves!
The preschool children will stimulate their auditory skills, and develop their fine motor skills when createing simple instruments using items in andaround the house. The children will explore their own creativity. The children will learn to listen attentively to the sounds of music; high and low notes, rhythm and tunes musical instruments create. Materials Needed for the Activity: - CD Player and CD with Rhythmic Music.
- Song to Sing.(Choose any well known Song.)
- Pots, Pans, and Glasses for Demonstration Purposes.
- Classroom Mirror.
- Preschool Dance and Jump Mat from Ready Set Learn!

Procedure:
- The teacher should introduce rhythmic music, and let the children dance to the rhythm, ideally watching their movements in the classroom mirror.
- This will develop their co-ordination, and teach them to follow, or listen to the rhythm in the music.
- The teacher should choose a popular song, and let the children sing the song together. Repeat a few times.
- The teacher should let them sing the song in high voices, and repeat in low voices! The children should sing the song slow and thereafter fast!
- The children should observe the demonstration by the teacher, making music using household items, for instance glasses filled with water to different levels, and ticked with a fork or spoon.
- Pots and Pans could be used to serve as drums.
- The children should be encourage to be creative when making their own music instruments.
- Bottles could be filled with pips, seeds or sea sand.
- The children should make music, using their instruments. They could add movement to the rhythms they create. Enjoy!
