Locomotion Activity Preschool:
The locomotion activity preschool proves a favorite with all the preschool children, and will also provide them with ample opportunities to explore their creativity and develop their perceptual skills.
All items for this activity can be found in and around the house! The preschool children will develop their obviously observation -, visual memories, and their fine motor muscles during the activity.
Materials needed for the Activity:
One Tissue Box, (10 x 4 x 3 inches.)Two Plastic and Two Metal Lids from 235 ml Jars.Two 6 inch Kebab Skewers.Two Rubber Erasers.One 18 ounce round Oatmeal Carton.One, two liter milk Cartons.Three plastic Pill Containers.A Cotton Ball.Scissors and Pencil.Colored Paint and Paintbrushes.Glue and Masking Tape.One large Paper Clip.
Procedure:
- Locomotive Platform:
- Glue the Flaps of the Tissue Box together.
- Make two holes on each side of the Tissue Box, make sure the holes are in the exact same place on each side, in order for the Kebab Skewers to go through, from on side to the other.
- Locomotive Wheels:
- Use the four Plastic and Metal Container Lids for the back wheels.
- Squeese the Container Lids onto the Skewers.
- To stop the wheels from coming off, divide the two Erasers into four pieces, and place a piece onto each end of the Skewers. These will be used as Stoppers.
- Boiler:
- Place the three prescription Pill Containers on top of the Oatmeal Container and glue in firmly onto the Oatmeal Container, in a neat row, one behind the other. A pin, pushed through the middle of the Containers could secure them.
- Cab:
- Glue the spout of the Milk Carton closed. Place a Paper Clip over the spout, until the glue is dry.
- Trace three rectangle shapes onto the top half of the carton, and then cut out the windows.
- It is advised that a parent or teacher should assist the preschoolers with the cutting out of the windows.
- Glue the bottom half of the carton to the Oatmeal Container.
- Glue the Cotton Wool onto one of the boilers, for a nice touch!
- Paint the Locomotive in bright colors, and enjoy and explore your creativity! Enjoy!
