Letter m Preschool Activities


Letter "m" Preschool Activities:

The letter "m" preschool activities will teach the child to recognize the alphabet letter, teach them the correct letter format and provide them with fun learning activities!

Activity 1: Recognizing the Letter "m".

Materials Needed for the Activity:

  1. Books with Colorful Pictures and Text.
  2. Pencils for Marking.
  3. White Paper.
  4. Colored Premixed Paint.
  5. Bean Bag.


Procedure:

  • Let the child sit next to you and indicate the letter "m" on a page of the book.
  • Ask the child to use a pencil and circle all the letter "m's" he or she can find on the page.
  • Proceed to showing the child how the letter "m" is formed.
  • Use the paint and write the letter on the paper, while the child watches.


  • Empazise the beginning point and the correct letter formation.
  • Make sure the preschool child knows the meaning of words, indicating direction, and spatial positions, such as: up, down, in front, behind, left, right, under, over, next to, and so on.
  • A simple way of practicing the words indicating direction and space, is by using a bean bag or any other suitable object and let the child place the bean bag "in front" or "behind" him or her on command.
  • Let the child dip her "pointer" finger in the paint with his or her writing hand, and form the letter over the example in a different color.
  • This activity will encourage visual memory, and improve fine motor skills.


  • Activity 2: Letter "m" Formation:
    The following activity will provide the preschool child with another opportunity of practicing the letter "m" formation, while enjoying the creativeactivity, stimulating their fine motor skills as well.

    Materials Needed for the Activity:

    1. Thick Chunky Strips of Colored Wool.
    2. Sheet of Paper.
    3. Clear Glue.
    4. Black Marker Pen.

    Procedure:
    • Write the letter "m" on the paper while the child is watching.
    • Make a clear dot where the letter starts and indicate with arrows the direction in witch the letter formation occurs.
    • Let the child trace the letter with his or her fingers for a few times.


    • Now let the child place a piece of color wool over the letter "m" shape.
    • When you are satisfied the child knows the letter formation, let the child glue the wool over the letter shape.
    • Enjoy!
    • A fun way of ending alphabet letter activities, is to sing alphabet letter songs, or learn a alphabet letter poem.
