Effective Preschool Holiday Activities Easter Activities
Preschool Easter activities will provide the preschool children with a lot of fun and enjoyment, stimulating their perceptual skills at the same time!
Activity 1: Clay Chick and Egg Shell Egg:
The children will stimulate their fine motor muscles and explore their creativity during these art activities. Eye-hand-co-ordination is developed with the painting of the patterns on the egg shells as well as, when tracing the patterns on the egg shapes. Materials needed for the art activity:
- Modeling clay. (colored with food coloring, for example, yellow)
- Egg Shells. (blown out.)
- Paint and Paintbrushes.

Procedure: - The children should use the modeling clay to mould their Easter chick. Place the chick on a tray or placemat.
- Next, the children can get to work, painting their egg shells.
- Egg shells could be whole or broken.
- The children should choose their colors and their pattern they are going to paint on the egg shells, and start painting.
- The children should place the egg shells next to the chick to indicating the chick has just hatched, or in case of a whole shell, of a chick about to hatch.
Activity 2: Paper Eggs: This simple Easter "display" activity will be enjoyed by all children participating! The children will stimulate their fine motor -, and eye-hand-co-ordination skills during the activity. Materials needed for this activity: - Drawing - or Construction Paper.
- Paterns to Paint.
- Crayons and other Decorating Materials.
- One Egg Shape.
- Triangular Shaped Profile Pencils. (Improving the young child's grip.)
To make the Egg Pattern:
- The children should transparent or semi-transparent lightweight paper and tag, placing the paper over the egg shape and trace it.
- Place the traced egg, pencil side down on top of the tag paper, and transfer this egg pencil side down on top of the tag paper, and transfer this egg image to the tag by rubbing over the back of the drawing with the point of a pencil.
- Cut out one or more tag egg for patterns and begin!
- The children should draw vertical lines and decorate each section with a different design and color.
The children will be very proud of their decorated Easter Eggs!
Activity 3: Preschool Easter Bunny Art Activity: The children will have fun creating their own Easter Bunnies at the same time, stimulating their creativity, fine motor skills, and their eye hand co-ordination. Activities like these will help preschool children to improve their visual observation skills, in a fun way, because they will be advised to follow step by step instructions.
Materials Needed for the Activity: - White Cardboard Paper.
- Yellow and Green Poster Paint and Paintbrushes.
- Scissors and Glue.
- Triangular Shaped Profile Pencils.
(Ideal for improving the preschool child's pencil grip.) - Black Marker Pen.
- Bunny Template.
- Green Crepe Paper.
Procedure: - The children will trace the bunny form the template, onto the white cardboard, using their pencils.
- The children will cut out the bunny, and paint it with the yellow, using their poster paint. Set the bunnies aside to dry.
- Next, the children should fold one tab forward and the other backwards and glue onto an empty cigarette box, in order for the bunny to stand up.
- Advise the children to add whiskers and nose openings, and other facial features, using the black marker pen.
- The children could cover the empty cigarette box with crumpled green crepe paper, to simulate green grass, or they can paint the box using green poster paint. Enjoy!
