Effective Preschool Holiday Activities Handmade Christmas Decorations Preschool
The preschool Christmas decoration activities will provide the children with creative, fun activities! The children will be very enthusiastic, because Christmas is a very special time of year! The children will stimulate and develop their fine motor -, and eye-hand-co-ordination skills when participating in the activities.
Activity 1: Creating Christmas Tree Decorations: Materials Needed for the Activity: - Colored Felt Material.
- Materials for Decoration.
- Scissors and Glue.
- Stencils for Tracing.
- Heavy Cardboard.
- Colored Thin Ribbons.
- Paper Punch.
- Pencils, and Black Marker Pen.

Procedure:- The children should use their star -, triangular -, and heart shaped stencils to trace the shapes onto the cardboard, using their pencils.
- The children should then place the cardboard shapes onto the felt material, and trace the shape onto the felt material,using a black marker pen.
- The children should cut out the felt material, and glue the cardboard onto the back of the felt material shape. The cardboard will make the colorful felt material shapes a lot firmer.
- The children should use other materials for decorating the shapes, for instance, add a little glitter or a few sequence to make the already colorful shapes appear more festive!
- Punch a hole at the top of the shape, using the paper punch, and thread the thin ribbon through, to be able to hang the decorations onto the Christmas trees.
Activity 2: Creating Festive Christmas Candles:
Candles are part of the festive decorations we use during Christmas time! Materials Needed for the Activity: - Thick White Candles.
- Plate for the Candle to stand upon.
- Herbs and Spices for Decorations.
- Glue.
- Thin Red Ribbon.

Procedure: - The children should place their white candles in the center of their plates.
- Next, they should choose from a variety of spices and herbs, and glue it around their candles, creating decorative patterns.
- Add a red ribbon, tied in a bow around the bottom of the candle for a final touch!
Herbs ideal for the festive candle activity: Cranberries, cloves, and cherries. For a variation on the candle activity, use a thin white candle, place it in the middle of an orange, and decorate the fruit with the herbs and spices.
Activity 3: Creating a Chocolate Advent Calendar: Materials Needed for the Activity: - Green Cardboard.
- Scissors and Clear Glue.
- Yellow Cardboard.
- Black Marker Pen.
- 24 Small Christmas Chocolates.
- Paper Punch.
- Thin Ribbon.

Procedure: - Trace a big green triangle, and cut it out.
- Trace a red square, and cut it out.
- Next, trace the star template on the yellow cardboard, and cut it out.
- Assemble the pieces into a tree, square at the bottom, and star at the top of the tree.
- Number the Christmas chocolates from 1 to 24.
- Glue the chocolates from left to right, from the bottom to the top, ending with number 24 at the top, just underneath the star.
- Punch a hole in the top part of the star, and threat the thin ribbon through the hole. Hang your calendars, and count the days to Christmas!
For a variation, the chocolates could be replace with small square colored cards, decorated to the Christmas theme.
