Effective Preschool Games
Ball Games

The preschool ball games will provide the preschool children with fun activities, enjoyed by all, and stimulating theireye-hand-co-ordination skills at the same time!

Ball Game 1: "Circle Stride" Ball:

Materials Needed for the Game:

  1. take-me-out-to-the-ball-game
  2. One large Ball.(Volley Ball)
  3. let's-play-baseball

Procedure:

  • The preschool children will be asked to stand in a circle, their feet should touch both sides.
  • One child will be "it", and will stand in the center.
  • This child will roll the ball from the Centrex, towards the other children, trying to roll the ball through the feet of any child.
  • When the child succeeds, he takes the place of the child and that child becomes "it."
  • The children may only use their hands to stop the ball. Enjoy!


Ball Game 2: "Teacher" Ball:

The preschool children will develop their eye hand co-ordination, and directionality skills during this ball activity!

Materials Needed for the Game:

  1. Ball.(Volley Ball)
  2. pecorino-plays-ball

Procedure:

  • The children will be asked to line up, about 5 feet from the "teacher."
  • The child with the ball, will be the "teacher."
  • The "teacher" will through the ball, underhand, to each child in turn.
  • When a player misses, he goes to the end of the line, and the child at the head of the line, then becomes the "teacher."Have fun!


Ball Game 3: "I'm going to catch a fish!"

The children will develop their eye hand co-ordination and their large muscle tone will be developed during this ball game!

Materials Needed for the Game:

  1. Ball.(Volley Ball)
  2. jack-plays-ball


Procedure:

  • The preschool children will sit in a circle, and one child should be placed in the middle of the circle, the "fish".
  • One child sitting in the circle, will hold the ball.
  • The children or "fish" in the circle will say: "We're going to catch a large fish!"


  • The child in the middle will shout: "Oh, no you're not!"
  • The child holding the ball will roll the ball towards the "fish," trying to hit the "fish."
  • When the "fish" is hit, he sits in the circle with the other children, and the child who had hit the "fish," becomes the "fish." Enjoy!


Ball Game 4: "Circle" Ball Game:

The preschool children will develop their eye foot co-ordination during this activity!

Materials Needed for the Game:

  1. One eight inch Ball.
  2. let's-play-soccer

Procedure:

  • The preschool children will sit in a circle.
  • The children will attempt to keep the eight inch ball in the circle, moving the ball with their feet from one child to the next, with their feet!
  • They may not touch the ball with their feet.
  • The children should lean back onto their hands, with their feet straight ahead, giving their feet more mobility. Enjoy!


Ball Game 5: "Call Ball."

The preschool children will develop their eye hand co-ordination, hearing discrimination and and their large muscles co-ordination playing this game.

Materials Needed for the Game:

  1. Ball, size may vary according to the age group of the children.
  2. preschool-golf-set from Ready Set Learn!

Procedure:

  • The children will stand in a circle with one child standing in the center.
  • The child in the center tosses the ball above his head while calling the name of a child in the circle.
  • The child who was called tries to catch the ball.
  • This child then takes the place of the child in the center. Hope you are having fun!
