Easter Preschool Holiday Activities: Activity 1:
Preschool children love the Easter theme and will be very enthusiastic in participating in the Easter activity! The activity will develop the children's fine motor muscles in a fun and creative way! A rhyme on "Hot Cross Buns" follow the activity, the preschool children love rhymes and songs!
Creating "Hot Cross Buns:"
Materials required for this activity:
- Aprons for the children.
- Soft dough prepared.
- Brown paint.
- Non toxic gloss paint.
Procedure:
- The children will be advised to wear their aprons because this could get messy.
- Every child will receive a lump of dough that was prepared for this lesson.
- The children will warm up their hands by playing and rolling the dough for a few minutes.
- The children will develop their fine motor muscles through this playful exercise.
- They will then start forming their "Hot Cross Bums". When they are satisfied with their "Hot Cross Buns" they can put them aside, and wait for it to dry.
- The preschoolers can use the pain that has been prepared, to pain their buns a soft brown color.
- Once again the buns are set aside to dry.
- Then they will start rolling two strips of dough that will serve as the cross over the "buns".
- The children will now place the strips over the "buns".
- The cross will be left a white "doughy" color.
- The children will lastly paint a colorless over their "Hot Cross Buns".
- The class teacher will display the "Hot Cross Buns" and teach them the traditional"Hot Cross Buns" rhyme.
Rhyme: "Hot Cross Bunns:
- One a penny
- Two a penny
- Hot Cross Buns!
Repeat.
Traditional.
Dough Recipe:
Ingredients:- 2 Cups of Flour.
- 2 tbs. Cooking Oil.
- 1 Cup of Water.
- 1 Cup of Salt.
- Add Colored Paint for Food Coloring.
- Combine ingredients into a nice consistency.
