Activity: Making a Fruit Salad.

  • The preschool children healthy eating activity will be enjoyed, at the same time stimulating and developing their perceptual skills.

    The abundance of fruit is all so an indication that summer has arrived! The children should learn not only does fruit contain vitamins which help develop the body's resistance against colds, and provide the body with fibre.

    The body needs vitamins, nutrients, and fibre to be healthy.The children will learn the names of different types of fruit. The children will learn how to combine the different fruits, to create a delicious healthy fruit salad, developing their fine motor skills at the same time!

    Ingredients for the Fruit Salad:

    1. Blunt knifes for the cutting of Fruit.
    2. Variety of Seasonal Fruits.
    3. Bowl for Fruit Salad.
    4. Small bowls and Teaspoons for the children.
    5. Chopping Boards.


    Method:

    • The teacher will show the children different kinds of fruit, and ask the children to name them all. The teacher will name the fruits that are unfamiliar to the children.
    • The children should wear aprons for the next step! Cutting, slicing and peeling of the fruit begins. The teacher should assist the children with the chopping of the fruit.
    • The fruit cubes should be placed into a big bowl, and they could squeeze some orange juice over the fruit salad, for a final touch!


    • They will feel very proud of their accomplishment!
    • The children should enjoy their fruit salad when finished.
