Bugs Science Activiy for Preschool :

The preschool activity on bugs will prove to be a fun activity, stimulating all the children's senses, as well as improve their general knowledge on bugs!

The children will learn how to observe the bugs, and how to record their results. The children will learn how to mix colors, in order to create colors and different shades and tones.

Materials needed for the Activity:

2. Glass Jars.
3. Clipboards with Paper.
4. Triangular Profile ShapednPencils, and Coloring Pencils.

   (Ideal for improving the child's grip.)

Procedure:

• The children will do their recording studies of bugs in the school garden.
• They will search for bugs and try to find them in their natural habitat.
• They should use their glass jars and place them in the garden in a protected place. The glass jars should have lids on them, but the lids should have big holes in them, in order for the bugs to crawl in.
• They should place suitable food inside the jars, depending on what kind of bug they prefer to attract.
• Sweet things will attract ants, and bees. Small insects like flies, and mosquitoes may attract for instance a spider.
• The children will collect their jars and observe the bugs they have captured.



• They can attempt to draw the bugs in their jars on their clipboards, paying attention to the size of the body, and head. The shape, of the body, the number of legs different bugs have, and the shape and color of their wings.
• Thereafter the children can color the bugs, and try to create the actual color of the live bug! This may acquire some skill, and they should be guided by the teacher, teaching them how to mix colors, creating new shades and tones.
