  2. White Cardboard Paper 9 x 12" for cake 1.
  3. White Cardboard Paper 12 x 18" for cake 2.

  5. Glue, and Scissors.
  6. Materials for Decoration.
  7. Paint and Paint Brushes.(Optional.)
  8. Dr. Seuss's ABC Board Game

Procedure:
  • To start the activity the children will have to learn how to draw a cylinder.
  • First they have to draw a pickle. Then draw a line down from each end of the pickle. Lastly they will add a smiling line from the left side of the pickle to the right side.
  • To add a plate to the cylinder cake simply place a dot on each side of the bottom of the cake, and connect these dots with a curved line.
  • To add candles to the cake the children will form little cylinder shaped candles, formed by rolling the rectangular shaped paper pieces into tube shaped candles. Glue the ends to the rest of the candle.
  • The children should decide the color their rectangular shaped pieces of paper before hand or not.
  • They should make little dots on the top layer of their cakes to indicate the place they would like to place their candles.
  • The rolled up paper cylinder shaped candles should be glued to the top layer of the cake.

  • The cylinder shaped candles should be glued to the cake in an upright position!
  • The children could decorate the cake and the plate, in various ways, using glitter, paint, coloring pencils or stars!
  • They could make a "Happy Birthday" banner, and glue it around the cake!
  • The children can choose to color their birthday cakes, using coloring pencils, or to paint them.
  • The teacher should display all the lovely birthday cakes, and let the children sit in a circle, and teach them the "Happy Birthday Song." They should sing the song a view times over, using variations.
Song: Happy Birthday to You!
