Effective Preschool Art Activity
Community Helper

Creating a Police Badge!

A simple but most enjoyable activity!

The children will enjoy participating in the activity! They need to be made aware of the importance of the community worker's work, in their communities.

A police officer enforces law, ensuring everybody's safety!

The children will stimulate their fine motor muscles, and explore their creativity when creating the police badge, using play dough!

All play dough and clay activities provide excellent opportunities for developing a preschool child's hand and finger muscles.

Materials needed for the Activity:

  1. Play Dough.
  2. Yellow Paint and Paintbrushes.
  3. neighborhood-and-community-mini-book-plays

Procedure:

  1. The children will receive a ball of soft play dough.
  2. To warm up their hands they should roll the dough forward and backwards, and then use circular movements, first to the left, and then to the right, to roll the clay into a ball.
  3. They love to play with dough therefore the teacher should allow them to "work" and mold the dough for a while.

  4. The children will shape their police officer badges, and let it harden or dry a little.
  5. They will then paint the badges yellow, imitating the metal "look."
  6. The children will wait for the paint to dry, before they will be able to play act officers in uniform, with badges!
