Effective Preschool Art Activites Train Craft Art Activities
The preschool children love trains, and this simple train activity will provide the children with ample opportunities to experience success, and building their confidence. The children will stimulate and develop their fine motor skills during the activity, when creating their own train and a locomotive. Enjoy! Materials Needed for the Activity:
- Empty Match Boxes.
- One Bigger Box (for Engine.)
- Colored Paint and Paintbrushes.
- Round Buttons, or Round Sweets for Wheels.
- Black Marker Pen.
- Cardboard Strips.
- Glue and Scissors.
- CD Player and CD Song on Trains. CedarMont Kids Classic:
- Thomas the Tank Engines - Bill and Ben

The preschool children are advised to wear aprons for the activity, because it could become messy. Procedure:- The children should start the train activity by painting the match boxes in different colors, and set them aside to dry.
- The bigger box should be painted next, and set aside to dry.
- They should use the round buttons, or colored round sweets and stick them onto the match boxes, to serve as wheels.
- Next, the children can use their black marker pens to draw a window and an engine master in the window of the bigger engine box.
- The preschool children should use the cardboard strips and glue to fasten the carriages to one another, and to the engine of their trains!
- The teacher could display the colorful trains on the display table.
To end the activity on a high note, literally, the preschool children should sing one of the many preschool songs on trains, and train stations. An example of a very appropriate song is being provided.
Song: Down by the Station:Down by the Station, Early in the Morning, See the little Puffer Bellies all in a Row, See the Engine Driver pull the Little Handle, "Chug, Chug, Toot, Toot!" Off We Go! Repeat. Vary the song by singing it fast, slow or in high, or in low voices. Poem:
The Steam Train and the Hill:
Stimulate and develop their cognitive, oral and auditory senses, when learning the poem on the Steam Train.
