Effective Preschool Art Activities
Activities on China

The colorful, creative preschool activities on China will not only provide the children with a lot of enjoyment, but theywill also develop their fine motor - and creativity skills when participating in the activities.

Activity 1: Creating a Spiral Dragon Snake.

This simple, but fun preschool activity will be enjoyed by all!

Materials Needed for the Activity:

  2. 1 Colored Paper Plate.
  3. Brightly Colored Sheets of Crinkle Paper.
  4. Pencils.
  5. Scissors and Glue.
  6. Black Marker Pen.
  7. Plate or Circle Stencil.

Procedure:

  • Use a plate or the circle stencil to draw a circle on the colored paper plate, using a pencil.
  • Cut it out.
  • Draw a spiral inside the circle, and cut it out.


  • Use the black marker pen to draw a dragon face on the end of the spiral dragon snake.
  • Draw thin flag like colored spiral dragon snake tentacles onto the crinkle paper, cut it out, and glue it onto the spiral.
  • Use the black marker pen for markings on the dragon snakes body.
  • The spiral dragon snakes should be hung all over the classroom for a special effect!

Activity 2:Creating Chinese Lanterns:

Once again a simple, colorful activity, enjoyed by all!

Materials Needed for the Activity:

  1. Sheets of Colored Cardboard Paper.
  2. Scissors and Glue.
  3. Pencils for Drawing.
  4. Stapler and Staples.

Procedure:

  • Fold the colored sheets of cardboard paper in half, lengthwise.
  • Make cuts around the middle, about an inch apart.
  • Make sure not to cut through the bottom and top part of the lanterns.


  • Unfold the paper, and glue or staple the ends together.
  • Push the paper to make a lantern shape.
  • Draw handles on the left over paper, using a contrasting color.
  • Cut it out and glue or staple onto the top sides of the lanterns.


Activity 3: Making A Chinese Paper Fan:

Enjoy the simple paper folding activity, stimulating the preschool child's fine motor skills.

Materials Needed for the Activity:

  1. Sheets of White Cardboard Paper.
  2. Colored Ribbons.
  3. Colored Poster Paint and Paintbrushes.
  4. Paper Punch.

Procedure:

  • The children should start the activity by painting the white paper. They can choose to paint the paper in one bright color or in different colored strips.
  • Set it aside to dry.


  • Start by folding the paper in equal parts from one side through to the other side. Shape into a Fan shape.
  • Punch holes at the bottom with the paper punch, and tie the colored ribbons through the holes. This will create a lovely finish to the fan. Enjoy!
