Alphabet Letter Activities Preschool

Alphabet Letter Activities Preschool:

The alphabet letter activities will teach the letters children the alphabet in a fun way. When children enjoy themselves optimal learning occurs.

Activity 1: Recognizing Alphabet Letters:

Materials Needed for the Activity:

  1. Alphabet Wall Chart.
  2. Board and Board Marker Pens for Demonstration Purposes.

Procedure:
  • The children should be introduced to a specific alphabet letter, for instance "b".
  • The teacher should indicate the letter on the alphabet letter wall chart.


  • The children should try and form or shape the letter with their bodies.
  • Next, the children should try and form the letter using their hands and fingers.


Activity 2: Alphabet Letter Formation:

Materials Needed for the Activity:
  1. Board and Board Marker Pens for Demonstration Purposes.
  2. Alphabet Letter Wall Chart.
  3. Sandbox and Sand.

  4. Paint and Newspapers.

Procedure:
  • The children should follow the teacher when teaching the new letter formation.
  • The children should "write" the letter in the air, using their "pointer" finger.


  • The children should then write the letter with different materials and on different textures.
  • They can practice the letter, writing it in the sand in a sand box.
  • They could dip their fingers in thick paint and "write" the letter on old newspaper sheets.


Activity 3: Finding the Letter:

Materials Needed for the Activity:

  1. Newspapers, Magazines, and Old Books.
  2. Sheets of Paper.
  3. Scissors and Glue.


Procedure:
  • The children should page through magazines, newspapersand other print material, finding the letter onpages, in different print. The children should cut outthe letter and glue it on a sheet of paper, in differentsizes, print and colors.


  • Let the children search for the specific letter in words, in old newspapers and magazines.
  • The teacher could cut out letters and trace themonto paper, ask the children to find the letter matching the silhouette of the letter.
