  • Let the children put colored dots, red for the right hand, and green for the left hand, on their hands.
  • Give the children clear, simple instructions, as to where they can find the hidden instructions, using descriptive words, like: left, right, up, down, under, big, small, colors.
  • They who follow the instructions best, and find an object should be praised for their listening skills.

Activity 2:True or false?

Preschool children should be able to differentiate between fact and fiction.

Activity 3: Story Round:

The children need to follow the sequence of events. It is difficult for them, because the hippocampus, the areaof the brain that process such information, is one of thelast areas to develop.

Stories help to stimulate and develop that area of the preschoolers brain.

Procedure:

  • The children will form a circle. The teacher should start off the story with an exiting opening, for example;"One bright sunny morning, a lovely white bunny came unexpectedly hopping into my garden...."
  • They should each get a chance to add a part to the story, keeping the sequence of events in mind.
  • The story should carry on until every child had a chance to add to the story, and the story should end with a natural conclusion. The teacher should guide them, and help the story not get out of hand!

Activity 4: Playing the Alphabet Snap!

This activity will help the preschoolers to recognize the letters.

Materials needed for the Activity:

  1. Two Packs of Identical Alphabet Cards.

Procedure:

  • The children will gather in a circle. The teacher should shuffle the two packs of cards.
  • Two children will sit in the middle, taking turns, giving all the children an opportunity to play the alphabet snap card game!
  • When two identical cards are placed on top of one another, the children should shout out "snap!" The children who shouted out first, should keep the pair of cards.
  • At the end of the game they should count out the pair of cards, and the child with the most pairs, is the winner.
